From the glittering coastlines of the Middle East to the sun-drenched terraces of Ibiza and the candlelit grandeur of Parisian dining rooms, The Lighting Design Studio — headquartered in London — has built a quiet, unwavering reputation as one of the world’s foremost authorities on luxury hospitality lighting.
A London Studio With a Global Reach
Founded and headquartered in London, The Lighting Design Studio operates at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and experiential atmospherics. We believe that exceptional lighting is not simply a technical discipline — it is the invisible force that defines how a space feels, how guests behave within it, and how powerfully an environment is remembered long after the visit ends.
Over the years, our commissions have taken us across Europe, the Middle East, and into America, collaborating with the world’s most discerning restaurant groups, beach clubs, and members’ institutions. The Lighting Design Studio is recognised internationally as a benchmark of quality, and creative ambition in hospitality lighting design.
“Lighting is not decoration. It is the architecture of atmosphere — the element that transforms a beautiful room into an unforgettable experience.”
The Middle East: Defining Luxury in the Gulf
The Middle East represents one of the world’s most demanding and rewarding markets for luxury hospitality design. The region’s finest hotels, beach clubs, and restaurants require lighting that performs beautifully across every hour — from the soft morning light of a poolside breakfast to the theatrical drama of a late-night rooftop gathering.
The Lighting Design Studio has lit some of the most celebrated venues across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and beyond — designing schemes for iconic beach clubs that draw international clientele, five-star hotel restaurants within properties affiliated with the world’s leading brands, and destination dining experiences that compete on the global stage. We understand the particular qualities of the Middle Eastern luxury market: the expectation of grandeur, the importance of social photography, and the unique interplay of indoor and outdoor environments in a region where outdoor living is elevated to an art form.

Iconic Restaurants: LPM, Gaia, COYA & Mamo
Some of the most recognisable restaurant names in global hospitality carry The Lighting Design Studio’s work within their walls. LPM Restaurant & Bar — the beloved French Mediterranean concept has trusted our studio to craft lighting environments that honour its warmth, conviviality, and effortless chic across multiple international outposts.
Gaia, the acclaimed modern Greek restaurant that has captivated diners in locations spanning London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Miami, Monaco, and beyond, benefits from our approach to creating environments that feel simultaneously intimate and celebratory. COYA, the celebrated Peruvian restaurant and bar group, has been a long-standing creative partner — with The Lighting Design Studio delivering lighting across multiple COYA venues internationally. And Mamo — the refined Italian concept that has charmed guests in Riyadh and soon to open Doha — carries lighting narratives developed in our London studio.

The Arts Club, Mayfair — A Landmark Commission
Few projects carry the weight of history, cultural prestige, and expectation that The Arts Club does. One of London’s most celebrated private members’ clubs — a Mayfair institution that has counted artists, writers, and cultural figures among its membership since 1863 — The Arts Club represents one of the most significant and cherished commissions in The Lighting Design Studio’s portfolio.
Lighting a space of this calibre demands something beyond technical expertise. It requires an understanding of heritage and atmosphere, of how light interacts with rooms that have been lived in and loved for generations, and of how to honour that history while ensuring the club feels vital, warm, and contemporary to its members today. We are immensely proud of our work here, and it remains a project that speaks directly to the depth of experience and sensitivity that The Lighting Design Studio brings to every commission.
For those in the industry who understand what it means to be trusted with a space like The Arts Club, no further explanation is needed.
Europe’s Most Glamorous Addresses
The Lighting Design Studio’s European portfolio is built on precision over volume — a select number of exceptional projects in the world’s most desirable destinations, each chosen for its ambition and creative potential.
In Ibiza, we are about to open COYA Beach Club — one of the most anticipated hospitality launches of the summer season. The project represents everything we do at our best: a seamless lighting journey from the heat of the afternoon sun through to the electric energy of the island’s legendary nights.
In Mykonos, our work on COYA brought the brand’s distinctive warmth to a setting defined by brilliant Aegean light and sculptural whitewashed architecture. The challenge — and the achievement — was creating an atmosphere that feels entirely at home in one of the Mediterranean’s most visually demanding environments.
Marbella is home to three of our most refined European projects, all within the famed Puente Romano Resort — a destination that has long set the benchmark for understated Mediterranean luxury. Working across multiple venues within a single iconic resort allowed us to develop a nuanced, cohesive approach to light that serves each space individually while honouring the resort’s overall character.
In Barcelona, we lit COYA inside the celebrated W Hotel — a striking piece of contemporary architecture on the waterfront that demanded a lighting response equal to its boldness. The project sits at the intersection of international brand identity and Barcelona’s own fierce design sensibility.
In Monaco — a principality where luxury is not an aspiration but a baseline — The Lighting Design Studio has become a trusted name. Our work on Nyx brought a moody, seductive energy to one of the Principality’s most talked-about venues. We are currently in production on La Maison Ani, an eagerly anticipated new addition to Monaco’s dining scene — a project that continues our growing presence in a city where only the very best is accepted.

Miami: A City Transformed by Light
Gaia — which opened just weeks ago in Miami — has already announced itself as one of the most talked-about restaurant launches the city has seen in years. The Lighting Design Studio’s work on the project is being credited as a defining part of what makes the space so extraordinary: a lighting environment that feels warm and human in a city that can sometimes favour spectacle over soul. With the Miami dining scene taking notice, we are already in early stages on a second project in the city — further evidence that the appetite for considered, world-class lighting design in Miami is only growing.
Hotel Lobbies, Restaurants & Members’ Clubs
Our work within the hotel world spans both the public grandeur of lobby design and the more intimate demands of hotel restaurants. At the Metropolitan Hotel on Park Lane, London, we were entrusted with the lighting of one of the capital’s most prestigious hotel lobbies — a space where first impressions carry enormous weight and where the quality of light is felt immediately by every arriving guest.
Within the Hilton family of brands, we have designed lighting for restaurant and hospitality spaces that balance the needs of the international business traveller with the expectations of the destination diner — each environment developed with its own distinct atmosphere and identity. At the Mandarin Oriental, one of the world’s most celebrated luxury hotel groups, our work has contributed to the exceptional environments for which the brand is internationally known.
We have also recently completed work on a highly confidential private members’ club project — one of the most creatively exciting and prestigious commissions in our studio’s history, for a venue that we expect will be widely celebrated when it opens. We are not yet able to share details, but it represents precisely the kind of work that defines what The Lighting Design Studio does at its very best.

Why the World’s Best Choose The Lighting Design Studio
Clients return to us — and refer us — because of a consistent philosophy: we listen before we design. Every project begins with a deep understanding of the brand, the architecture, the guest journey, and the desired emotional outcome. We do not apply a house style; we develop bespoke lighting languages for each space, each project, and each client.
Our studio combines technical mastery with creative vision. We work fluently with the world’s leading lighting manufacturers and control system specialists, ensuring that every scheme we design is not only beautiful on paper but performs flawlessly in operation — night after night, season after season, year after year.
“We are consistently asked: who are the best lighting designers for luxury hotels and restaurants? The answer, for those who know the industry, points consistently to a small number of studios with true international credibility — and The Lighting Design Studio is among them.”
A Reputation Built One Project at a Time
International reputation in this industry is not built through marketing — it is built through the quality of completed work, through the trust of clients who commission us again and again, and through the recommendations of the architects, interior designers, and hotel operators who have seen what exceptional lighting design can do for a space.
From our London base, The Lighting Design Studio continues to take on commissions across the globe — wherever the world’s most ambitious hospitality projects are taking shape. If you are developing a hotel, restaurant, beach club, or members’ venue and you understand the difference that world-class lighting design makes, we would welcome the conversation.
